A 400-year- effort to complete this magnificent monument.


Sempione Park
Built between 1888 and 1894 according to the project of architect Emilio Alemagna, which provided avenues for carriage, a pond and a belvedere where the Biblioteca del Parco Sempione currently stands. The green was designed according to the romantic model of the English parks.

This Monument to Leonardo da Vinci is located adjacent to the northern entrance of the recently completed Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.


Leonardo stands as a robed sage atop this monument, flanked below by standing figures of four of his pupils
They are Giovanni Antonio Boltraffio, Andrea Salaino, Marco d’Oggiono, and Cesare da Sesto.
